Assign Products to a Category

Ideally, you want to assign products to a category when you create them or at time of purchase order creation. The Category Mapper displays uncategorized products currently in inventory.

1. From the Ascend desktop > Select Tools in the top toolbar > Category Mapper.

Note: Products are listed in alphabetical order by default, but you can use the column headers and the search bar above the left pane to re-sort and narrow your results

1. Select product(s) on the left pane that belong in the same category. You can select products individually or move them in bulk:
   1. Shift + click to select multiple adjacent products.
   2. Ctrl + click to select multiple, non-adjacent products.
   3. Selected products will be highlighted blue.
2. In the right pane, select the new category you would to map the product(s) to.
   1. Note: Be sure to expand the categories in the right pane. Be sure to click each carrot to expand the categories until you get to the Parent and Child Categories.

3. Click Map to map the selected product(s) to a Category.

4. The product(s) that were just mapped to a category will appear in Green and then disappear from the left pane after the next product(s) are mapped to a category.

Undo

If you realize you have miscategorized a product(s), you can click the Undo button in the middle and it will continue to add products back into the left pane (similar to the Undo button in Microsoft Word).

Search for Specific Products in the Category Mapper

If you'd like to narrow down the list, you can search for specific products. 

1. Click into the Search box.
2. Enter Search criteria (e.g.: Sock)
   1. Note: Be sure to review the results when searching. You may have products that come up in the results that belong in another category but have match something about your search criteria.

3. Follow the same steps above to categorize these products.

Add or Edit Categories

From within the Category Mapper, the top right-hand corner you can Add or Edit categories.

Note: The Edit button will appear only when a category is selected.
