If you are a multi-store retailer you may have wondered about the information shared between locations. This article is going to go into a little more detail on that.
Options > Multi-Store
You can update or modify certain Product and Tax information that is shared between locations through Ascend Client, Desktop > Options.
Shared Product Attributes
When any of the Shared Product Attributes are checked for your location, you will receive that information from any location that updates that information.
For example: If Store A updates the MSRP on a product and Store B has MSRP checked under the Shared Product Attributes, the product's MSRP at Store B will update to whatever MSRP Store A has set.
Shared Product Attributes
- MSRP: Product MSRP.
- Min: Product Reorder Minimum (In-Season).
- Max: Product Reorder Maximum (In-Season).
- Commission: The Commission % assigned in the individual product record.
- Location: Location of the product in the store. This is a field on the in-store product record that has to be entered manually.
- Min2: Product Reorder Minimum (Out of Season).
- Max2: Product Reorder Maximum (Out of Season).
- DolCom: The Commission $ assigned in the individual product record.
Shared Tax Data
- Tax Rates: Default Tax Rates set in the Ascend database (DBEX > Tax Rates).

Customer Tax Exceptions: Any customer with a different Tax Rate set on their customer record.
- Article: Customer Record - Tax.
- Product Tax Exceptions: Tax Rate set on individual product records.
- Category Tax Exceptions: Tax Rat set on specific categories (i.e.: Labor).
What else is Shared between Locations?
Categories
- All Categories are shared between Locations.
- QuickBooks Accounts assigned to Categories are not shared between locations.
- Category Tax only shares between locations if it is selected in the Shared Tax Data (in Options).
Coupons

Coupons are share between Locations.
- Note: You can control if a location will honor Coupons. For more information, check out our article, Promotions - Create, Edit, and Use Coupons.
Customers
- Customer transaction history is not shared across locations, however, you can access a customer's full history using the Customer Transaction History in Ascend HQ.

Customer Groups
- Customer Groups are shared between Locations and can be created or edited from any Location.
- Honoring the Customer Group Pricing (if associated with a Promotion) can be honored per Location by checking Use Customer Group Pricing within the Customer Group.

Inventory Adjustment Types
- Inventory Adjustment Types shared between Locations.
Products
- All Products are shared between Locations.
- Products can be created at any Location.
- Commission only shares between locations if it is selected in Shared Product Attributes (in Options).
Promotions

Promotions shared between Locations.
- Note: You can control if a location will honor Promotions. For more information, check out our article, Products - Create a Promotion.
Rental Reservation Info

Reservations are shared between all Locations. From the Reservations folder you can see all reservations between Locations.
- Note: You cannot create a Reservation for another location, that is database specific.
- Collections, Rates, and Rental Products are shared between Locations.
Rental Info (Legacy)
- Number of times a Rental Product has been rented.
Vendor
- All Vendors are shared between Locations.
- Note: Account Number is not shared between Locations as that can vary between Locations.
Vendor Products
- All Vendor Products are shared between Locations.
Users
- All Users are created in Ascend HQ and need to assigned to specific Locations. For more information on assigning a User to a Location, check out our article, User Management - Create, Edit, and Remove User Profiles.
- Note: When updating User Permissions, Roles, and/or Locations, you will need to log out of Ascend for those to take affect.
Data Syncing Between Stores
- Data is constantly syncing between locations. If you notice issues with your locations syncing you should check for connection issues, check out our article, Handling Internet Outages or Connection Issues.
