Ascend Cloud - Product Search / Details in the Transaction Screen

With Ascend Cloud you have the ability to search for products using your mobile device's camera, or by scanning/searching for the product manually.

From the Transactions screen, click the Products tab to display the Search Products feature.

Scan Products Using Mobile Device

To scan a product using your mobile device's camera, click Scan. You may receive a prompt to allow Ascend Cloud to use your device's camera, be sure to click Allow.

Scan Products Using Barcode Scanner

Click into the Search Products box and scan the product barcode.

If an exact match is found the item will automatically be added to the transaction screen.

Manually Searching for Products

To manually search for the product, enter search criteria into the Search Products box.

Click the dropdown to select which search criteria you are searching by. 

What are each of the Search Criteria searching?

  • Description: In-Store Product Description.
  • SKU: In-Store SKU field only.
  • UPC: UPC field only.

Once you have entered in your search criteria, click the Magnifying Glass or hit Enter key on your keyboard to return search results.

Display Results

Let's walk through how search results are displayed in the transaction screen.

Product Description

MSRP and QTY (current quantity on hand)

Add to Cart

Add any products to the transaction by clicking Add to Cart button. You can click Add to Cart once or multiple times.

View Product Info

To view the details of a specific product, single click on the product and Product Info will display.

  • Category
  • SKU
  • QTY

Click More Info to display additional information:

  • UPC/EAN
  • Size
  • Color
  • Brand

Click Less Info to collapse the additional Product Info.

If several results are returned, the page numbers will be listed at the bottom. You can click the page number of use the arrows on either side to advance to the next page or go back.

FAQs

If I scan products quickly, or rapidly add them, will the system keep up? Yes, the system should have no problem handling quickly added items.
How does Super Search work when SKU overlaps with other numbers such as UPC, EAN, or GTIN?
  • If the query contains any alphabetic characters (a, b, c…), it only searches the SKU column. 
  • If the query is less than 12 characters, it searches the SKU column. 
  • If the query is greater than 14 characters, it searches the SKU column. 
  • If the query is between 12-14 numeric characters, it searches both the SKU and the respective barcode (UPC, GTIN, EAN).
Can I add new products, import vendor/supplier catalogs, or edit product information in Ascend Cloud? No, you cannot perform any form of product management within the Transaction Web App at this time. This must be done through the Ascend Client.
Will there be more information or images available in Product Details? Not at this time. Additional product details, such as embedded product URLs to automatically open vendor product pages and some product images, may be added later.
