California legislation (SB 1271) goes into effect Jan 1, 2025, which redefines class 3 e-bikes. In essence, a speed pedal-assist electric bike cannot have a throttle. It must rely solely on pedal-assist support if it can exceed 20 mph. This impacts Electra's Ponto Go! sold in California before January 1, 2025.
