Supported Devices

Ascend supports the Verifone P400 Plus and Castles S1F2 devices. If you have additional questions about support devices and hardware requirements, check out our article, Hardware - Requirements.

If this is the first time you've hooked the Verifone up to your computer (e.g. it has never been used before on this computer), start on this Article: Ascend Pay - Install Payment Terminal: Verifone P400 Plus

Are you getting the following error when trying to process an Ascend Pay transaction:

Error message stating "Ascend cannot connect with your payment processing terminal. Only Payment link payments may be processed until a connection is reestablished. Check the payment terminal is turned on and connected to a network. "

This notification is workstation-specific. If one computer/workstation gives you this notification, it does not affect other workstations and your other workstations are still connected to their Verifone devices.

First, make sure all of your workstations are using unique workstation names - payment terminal settings are shared based on this name. Article: Configuration - Workstation Names.

Next, we'll look at the network connection on the terminal; On the Verifone, look for the cloud and Wi-Fi icon in the upper-left corner of the device. If those are missing and you have the “No Network Connection” pop-up, skip to the next section. However, there is another method to double check:

  1. Hold the star key then press the green circle to prompt a diagnostics menu to pop up
  2. In the diagnostics menu, click Endpoints
  3. This will run a network connection test. Once the test is complete, it will alert you to any network connectivity issues.
  4. If the test failed, click the < back arrow twice to go back to the main screen and proceed to the next section:

Fixing Wi-Fi Network Connection Issues:

  1. Click Connect on the “No Network Connection” pop-up and select your Wi-Fi network
  2. This will cause the device to try to reconnect to Wi-Fi and reboot the device.
    1. It may prompt for a code: 3874
  3. Enter the code and press the green circle to confirm.
  4. This will allow the device to reboot and reconnect to the network. The Wi-Fi symbol and Cloud will reappear after the reboot.
    1. Still not working? Try forgetting the Wi-Fi network and re-adding it, check out the next section for those steps.

Still not working? Try forgetting the Wi-Fi Network and Re-adding it.

  1. Hold the 9 key then press the green circle to prompt the Settings menu.
  2. In Settings > Network > Wi-Fi.
  3. All known Networks will display. Click the blue ‘i’ in the circle next to the Wi-Fi to access the Wi-Fi info.
  4. Select the Trash can in the lower right corner.
  5. Once removed, you can either add from the available Networks listed (if it is not a hidden network). If it is a hidden network you will need to add it manually.
  6. Select the correct Network > Enter password > Save.

Fixing Ethernet Network Connection Issues:

Verifone devices may be connected using an ethernet cable. The connection will look like the diagram below, with the ethernet cord being highlighted in red:

Find the external power brick and unplug and plug the ethernet cord back in. The cable should “click” back into place when fully seated. Do the same on the end of the cord furthest away from the device.
